PriceGlass privacy policy

PriceGlass is free for every shopper. Using the enabled extension requires anonymous price contributions after you accept the disclosure. Turn PriceGlass off or uninstall it to stop collection. There are no shopper accounts, subscriptions or paywalls.

What PriceGlass sends

Only after identifying a supported US product page, PriceGlass sends the product name, displayed USD price, retailer/product ID, available GTIN/model/brand identifiers, selected variant, availability, timestamp and a clean product URL path. Query parameters and fragments are removed. These paths let us link to the correct product when a cheaper matching offer exists. Supported retailer families are Walmart, Amazon, Costco, Kroger, Home Depot, CVS, Walgreens, Target, Lowe’s, Albertsons and Best Buy. Prescription/patient routes and recognized sensitive product categories are excluded. This is a conservative filter, not a guarantee that every health-related retail product can be recognized.

PriceGlass does not send the original full address with query parameters or fragments, page HTML, cookies, or a persistent shopper/device identifier. Canonical product paths and observation times still reveal which supported product pages were visited. “Anonymous” describes the absence of a stored shopper identifier in application records; it does not mean that network traffic is unidentifiable to hosting providers. The backend uses its own receipt time and stores a canonical product match/confidence and latest listing information.

What it does not collect

The extension does not collect shopper names, email addresses, accounts, payment information, unrelated search history, or complete browsing histories. Voluntary support email is handled separately as described below. It does not transmit data from unsupported pages. Product attributes can include your selected size or color, but application records are not linked to a stored shopper identity. The sensitive-product filter is incomplete: other health-related shopping titles and paths can still be processed. We do not request medical records, symptoms or diagnoses.

Use and retention

Observations calculate price history, assessments and cheaper observed offers. Shared price summaries and qualifying offers, including retailer/product links, prices and observation times, can be returned to other shoppers. This sharing is part of the price-comparison feature and does not include a stored shopper identifier. History covers 30 days. Observations and latest listings older than 90 days are deleted during subsequent ingestion. This is not an independent daily cleanup schedule: if requests stop or the project is paused, older records can remain until ingestion and cleanup resume. The local development server additionally cleans up on startup and daily. Product identity records may remain after observations expire. Identical listing prices are deduplicated hourly; counts are records, not unique shoppers. Price contributions are not sold to data brokers or used to build personal advertising profiles.

Network and hosting

The shared service is hosted by Supabase in East US (North Virginia). Transport uses HTTPS. The PriceGlass application does not persist IP addresses or request headers or log submitted bodies. Hosting providers necessarily process IP addresses and connection metadata to deliver and secure the service. Supabase’s Free plan currently advertises one day of accessible API/database log history. That figure is not a guarantee that all provider-held copies are erased after one day. Provider log and backup handling follows its current policies and project configuration; we do not promise a specific Free-plan backup retention period. If data is restored from a backup, expired observations can reappear until application cleanup runs again. Infrastructure retention and access can change under Supabase’s privacy policy. We do not export infrastructure logs into a separate analytics service. The local development build uses 127.0.0.1 instead of the hosted service.

This website

The splash, privacy and support website is hosted on Vercel. It has no account forms, analytics scripts, advertising pixels or embedded third-party widgets. Ordinary website requests expose IP addresses, requested URLs and connection metadata to Vercel and its infrastructure providers for delivery and security. Their processing and retention follow Vercel’s privacy policy. Opening a support email link uses your email provider; information you choose to send is used to respond to you.

Affiliate links and external sites

Clearly labeled cheaper-offer links may earn PriceGlass a commission if you click and make a qualifying purchase, at no added cost. Offers are sorted by observed price independently of commission. Affiliate links are enabled only for programs that approve extension use. PriceGlass does not replace existing retailer links, rewrite your current URL, set affiliate cookies in the background or automatically redirect you. Clicking an affiliate link navigates to a retailer or its affiliate network; those services may process your IP address, set cookies and record clicks/purchases under their own policies. PriceGlass does not attach a shopper identifier to links or track clicks itself.

On your device and your choices

PriceGlass stores your enable setting, disclosure acceptance version and aggregate extraction-error counters locally. Counters contain retailer names and fixed error codes, without product IDs or URLs, and are never transmitted. Clear them in the popup. Anonymous sharing cannot be separately turned off while using PriceGlass; turn off the extension feature to stop submissions and history requests. Uninstalling removes extension storage. Because records have no user identifier, we cannot identify which observations came from a particular person.

Limited use

PriceGlass uses product-page data solely to provide its price information feature, in accordance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and its Limited Use requirements. It does not transfer browsing data for unrelated purposes.

PriceGlass operates this extension. For support, privacy questions, or a report about an incorrect price, contact priceglassenterprises@gmail.com. Please include the retailer and product link when reporting an extraction issue, and avoid including account, payment, or medical details. Information you voluntarily email is used to answer your request. Material changes to collection will be disclosed before you enable the changed feature.
