This ZIP is for manual testing by people comfortable loading trusted code in Chrome’s Developer mode. It is not a Chrome Web Store installation and does not indicate Google’s approval. The manual beta is separate from the store package and may differ in version.

For everyday use, we recommend the Chrome Web Store installation. Google documents unpacked extensions for development; its supported distribution channels are the Chrome Web Store and managed enterprise installs. Read Google’s guidance.

Best Buy purchase-price fix: PriceGlass now reads the selected product’s main purchase price and avoids prices from other variant cards. Previous product details clear while new history loads.

Install the developer beta

1. Download the ZIP and extract all its files to a permanent folder. Keep that folder after installation.
2. Open chrome://extensions in Chrome’s address bar.
3. Turn on Developer mode.
4. Click Load unpacked and select the extracted folder containing manifest.json. Select the folder, not the ZIP file.
5. Open PriceGlass from Chrome’s extensions menu. Read the contribution disclosure, then choose Enable PriceGlass & contribute prices if you agree.
6. Visit a supported US product page and open the PriceGlass indicator. New products may show Limited data until shoppers contribute enough observations.

If your organization or Chrome blocks installation, use the Chrome Web Store listing or contact your administrator. These instructions do not require disabling Safe Browsing or bypassing browser warnings. Google’s unpacked installation instructions.

What you’re enabling

While enabled, PriceGlass reads product details on eleven supported retailer websites and sends product name, identifiers, variant, availability, price, observation time and a cleaned product-page path to the same shared Supabase service used by the store builds. Paths and times reveal supported product visits. The app does not store a persistent shopper identifier; hosting providers process IP addresses and connection metadata. Contributions are required while the price feature is enabled.

The package requests local storage and access to the supported retailer pages and its Supabase API. It contains no shopper accounts or payment forms. Affiliate revenue is currently inactive. Read the full privacy policy before enabling.

Updates and removal

This manual installation does not automatically receive store updates. For a newer beta, turn PriceGlass off, extract the new package into its permanent folder and click Reload on its card in chrome://extensions. Refresh retailer tabs afterward. Use Remove on that card to uninstall. Remove the manual beta before installing the store version to avoid duplicate widgets and contributions.
